Overview

Instagram Video Controls is a Chrome extension by Useful First that adds a timeline scrubber to supported Instagram videos and Reels. The extension modifies Instagram video controls locally in your browser. It does not upload the Instagram videos you watch, captions, comments, messages, feed content, or browsing history to Useful First.

Information We Collect

When you sign in or manage access, Useful First receives account and license information needed to provide the trial and lifetime purchase flow:

Email address from Google sign-in.
Google account subject identifier.
Trial status, trial dates, plan, and license status.
Stripe customer, checkout, and payment identifiers.
Signed website cookie and signed extension token.
Short-lived extension transfer token during website-to-extension sync.

In your browser, the extension processes Instagram video elements, video duration, current playback position, scrubber clicks or drags, and direct clicks on the video surface for play/pause. This video-control information is used locally for the extension interface.

How We Use Information

To create and manage your Instagram Video Controls product account.
To start and validate your trial.
To verify lifetime access after purchase.
To sync website sign-in state to the installed extension.
To support checkout, refunds, license revocation, and account support.
To show setup, trial, license, account, and support state in the extension popup.

Useful First does not sell user data and does not use Instagram page content for advertising.

What We Do Not Collect From Instagram

Useful First does not receive or store:

Instagram videos watched.
Instagram captions.
Instagram comments.
Instagram direct messages.
Instagram feed contents.
General browsing history.

Sharing

Useful First shares data only with service providers needed to operate the product:

Google, for Google sign-in.
Stripe, for checkout, payment processing, refunds, and payment records.
Hosting, database, and infrastructure providers used to run the Useful First website and API.

Useful First may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the security and integrity of the product.

Security And Retention

Account, license, and checkout requests are sent over HTTPS. Website sessions and extension sessions use signed tokens. Short-lived extension transfer tokens expire after 10 minutes.

Useful First keeps account, license, payment reference, and support information for as long as needed to provide access, maintain purchase records, prevent abuse, resolve support requests, and comply with legal obligations.

Cookie Policy

Useful First uses a signed, HTTP-only website cookie to keep you signed in to the Instagram Video Controls account page. This cookie is used for authentication and access management. The Chrome extension also stores a signed extension token in Chrome storage so it can verify trial or lifetime access without asking you to sign in on every page load.

Payment processing is handled by Stripe, which may set its own cookies or use similar technologies during checkout. Google may also use cookies when you choose Google sign-in. Those services process data under their own privacy policies.

GDPR Compliance

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another region with similar data protection laws, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing of your personal data. You may also have the right to request a copy of your personal data.
